The length of the school day is 9:00 a.m. - 3.20 p.m.
A Senior School Dinner costs £2.40 per day or £12 a week.
Our preferred method of payment is online by Schoolcomms. Alternative payment methods are available.
Lunchtimes are flexible in order to enable us to take advantage of the facilities offered by neighbouring schools, and many activities, e.g. ICT, P.E. film club etc., happen during the lunch hour. We feel it is important that teaching staff are available over the lunch hour, as feeding and social skills are an important part of the education at Dorothy Goodman.
Please see the Parent tab and useful information for the full school hot dinner menu.
There is a school uniform which we like our pupils to wear and we ask for parents' co-operation in this, although the uniform is not compulsory. You can buy official school uniform at
https://www.gascoigneclothing.com/dorothy-goodman-school
For secondary pupils:
Black sweatshirts
Black or white polo-shirts
Grey or black skirts or trousers
Students at the satellite bases wear the same uniform colour sweatshirt as the host school, but with a small Dorothy Goodman badge.
We also ask for P.E. kit to be provided - black shorts, white or blue T-shirt and pumps. Tracksuits and team kit are available from school for inter-school sports fixtures. All clothing should be clearly marked with your child's name.
Practical college courses or more messy work experience
PE and Swimming
Reasonable adjustments will be made for those students who have particular disabilities so that their clothing enables them to be comfortable and as independent as possible.
There is no uniform for Key Stage 5 students but there is a clear dress code which is very similar to that of the staff:
All absences must be accounted for and reasons recorded. The school is unable to authorise parental requests for holiday during term-time.
Parents should contact school as soon as possible on the morning of their child being absent. This may be by phone (01455 634582) or using a brief note informing the school why your child will be absent. This will assist us considerably with making sure we keep all our pupils safe.
