Red Ridge
This was a residential week at the Red Ridge Centre in Mid-Wales. Seven brave students went,
and three staff, and we had a superb time. The week is all about outdoor activities, and about
seeing students achieve things that you would never have thought possible, and which would not
be possible without expert tuition. It makes it all worthwhile when we see the pride showing in
students’ faces as they realise what they have been able to do.

| Canoeing: | Canoeing 6 ½ miles down the River Severn, negotiating several over-hanging trees and one weir along the way (although thankfully this year no aggressive swans!) |

| Rock-Climbing: | Beginning with a couple of scrambles, so that everyone could achieve something we then moved to abseiling in the afternoon (2 students) and climbing a 40 feet rock face (2 more students). |
| Indoor Caving: | Yes indoors! Great fun! |
| Zip Wire: | 40 feet up in the air a superb ride down to the end of the wire once you remember to feel safe! |

| Assault Course: | Fully tied on all the time – challenging, but good. |
| Hill-Walking: | Complete with a showdown with a herd of cows! |
| The week was so good and we saw so many achievements that we will definitely be back again next year (which will be our eighth). And, what is more important, the students are all keen to return! | |
