Overview DyslexiaI have recently been approached to organise an overview on Dyslexia and to discuss what help and information is available Dyslexia is a learning problem some children have with reading and writing. It can make words look jumbled, making it difficult for children to read and to remember what was read. Sometimes children with Dyslexia become very fustrated and find it hard to do schoolwork, but there are ways of helping them to make it easier for them to learn. For reading you need your centres of vision, language and memory, as well as a network of nerve cells to connect these centres. If a child has a problem with any of the centres - or the connections between them - reading can be difficult. The overview on Dyslexia will provide some useful information on recognising when a child has this problem and what support and resources are available, as well as a question and answer session. If you are interested in attending a talk by Susan O'Brien, from the Specialist Teaching Services Team, on Dyslexia on thursday 22nd May at 4.00pm, please let me know by emailing, telephoning or completeing and returning the reply slip below as soon as possible but no later than 15th May.
