DOROTHY GOODMAN Awarded NAACEMARK
This is a national scheme of accreditation for Information and Communication Technology work in
schools, and we are over the moon to have achieved the required standard. Only three schools in
Leicestershire have achieved it so far, and so it is very prestigious.
To get it we had to show a whole range of things:
- That we have a comprehensive staff development plan
- That we develop pupils' skills in ICT
- That we have high expectations
- That the school is committed to sustaining and increasing its use of ICT
- That we use computers and the Internet in a wide variety of ways
The whole staff have contributed immensely to gaining the Award, and deserve the credit, but special
thanks must go to Kate Noon, whose excellence has been a huge factor in developing the work of the
school to this point.
When the Award has been presented officially the details will be on the Web Site:
www.naace.org
and the following will appear under our school name:
-
We are a special school for pupils with learning difficulties, aged 3-19, and we are committed to
offering the best ICT opportunities available, ensuring that we meet the wide range of individual
needs within the school. Through ICT our students learn to communicate effectively, to find out more
about the world around them, and to use everyday devices that will enhance their life skills and
allow them to make a positive contribution to their community. We are involved in projects with other
schools, which means that we are able to be part of a wider community, and through our Web Site we
share information with parents, governors, staff and others. We are happy for other schools to contact
us and discuss the NAACEMARK.
So, thanks and congratulations to everyone!!
