Key Stage 5 (Post 16)
In Key Stage 5 there is an increased focus on preparing pupils for independence and life after school. All pupils have access to an adapted Bungalow, linked to the upper school which allows us to offer a distinct curriculum.
Our Post 16 pupils focus on:
- Personal Needs; e.g. personal hygiene, dressing and grooming.
- Personal / Social Skills; e.g. getting along with others, maintaining friendships.
- Practical Skills; e.g. the use of money.
- Managing a Household; e.g. performing housekeeping tasks. Planning and preparing meals.
- Community Experience; e.g. travel training, shopping.
- Safety Awareness; e.g. reading, understanding and following safety procedures.
These skills are essential to learn because they enable the transition from school to life in the "real world."
Pupils also participate in:
- Work Experience; including ASDA, Alliance and Leicester, Transco Gas, Lychgate Stables, in addition to other community services..
All pupils work towards nationally accredited qualifications, either through ASDAN or OCR.
